The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Apr 20, 2026, sent to the company Apr 23, 2026, published by CPSC May 7, 2026

The product, in the report: Cuisinart brand 8.5 inch kitchen shears (scissors), labeled as “Bent Utility Shears”, Part of a 4 shear package. Bought at local Costco store.

A pair of defective kitchen shears (scissors) developed a crack in the plastic handle. The crack has with very sharp edges. The crack caused injury to hand by pinching the skin and causing abrasions.

  2. Seen by a doctor or nurse

Made Jul 22, 2020, sent to the company Aug 7, 2020, published by CPSC Aug 21, 2020

The product, in the report: flat, heavy, metal grill spatula approximately 8” long (Metal Portion) with serrated (grooved) edge. 90 degree angles at the end of the spatula, not significantly rounded. Plastic handle attached with no visible screws. I am assuming it is attached with glue.

I was using a spatula made by Cuisinart while grilling. There was a bee flying near me and as I attempted to use the spatula to knock the bee from the air, the handle and the spatula separated, sending the metal portion flying through the air. It hit my house and bounced off hitting my 2.5 year old son in the hand causing a large cut on his finger.

If this had hit him in the eye or head the results could have been catastrophic.

Made Jul 20, 2017, sent to the company Aug 18, 2017, published by CPSC Sep 1, 2017

The product, in the report: Stainless steel grilling tool - turner/spatula

Purchased Cuisinart brand grilling tools from TJMaxx, Rossford OH. While using the turner/spatula to press down on hamburgers, tool broke where the body of the tool meets the handle. Tool dropped onto hot grill, and hand came into contact with surface of grill (I survived!). Examining remains of tool, it appeared to be snapped together, not very sturdy, in my opinion.

Made Oct 8, 2012, sent to the company Oct 16, 2012, published by CPSC Oct 30, 2012

The product, in the report: Cusinart blade and disc holder, white, Item BDH-2 Serial # 11028S

The locking child resistant device snaps after minimal usage because it is made of plastic and poorly designed. The metal springs are strong and easily snap the mechanism to allow it to be opened by a child. The blades are very sharp. The catalog number is CUIBDH2 part # BDH-2.

If you desire I can mail the defective part to you for examination.

    Thanks, [REDACTED]

    Cuisinart Model CRC-29B delivered 2 December 2011.
