On 5/7/2022, my daughter was working at [REDACTED] in Abilene, TX and they require use of a Coravin wine preservation system when serving wine to customers. My daughter was using the Coravin system as trained to do and when she pressed the lever on the Coravin, the wine bottle exploded in her hand causing a severe laceration to her thumb, severing the flexor tendon and nerve and necessitating surgery. A second surgery is required and will take place 3/9/2023 to try and gain more movement and sensation to her thumb. The supervisor and owner at [REDACTED] were not aware of nor did they claim to possess a protective sleeve for their Coravin nor did they plan to use a protective sleeve in the future, after being made aware. There is no warning label on the Coravin about using a protective sleeve.
