In using the birch wood Coffee stir sticks I discovered that the sticks are breaking apart in the hot beverage. In drinking my last bit of coffee in my cup I managed to get an inch long shard lodged in my throat. I was able to get the stick out but had I not it would have been a hospital trip for me.
