The product, in the report: Plastic color changing Infant silverware.

I was feeding my 12 month old, and to get him to eat I used the plastic color changing spoon and ate his food. It made my tongue numb and has a strong chemical taste. I thought it might be something with dishsoap.. but nope I went and bought another set put the plastic on my mouth and yup the brand new set also made my mouth numb.

The product, in the report: Munchkin Raise Toddler Fork and Spoon Utensil Set, Rest Keeps Tip Off Table, BPA Free, 4 Pack, Blue/Green

Product is designed so that with long-term use a piece of plastic comes off due to wear and tear. That piece of plastic made it into my toddler’s mouth last night. He spit it out. I have concerns that another child might not.

Made Jul 13, 2025, sent to the company Jul 16, 2025, published by CPSC Jul 30, 2025

The product, in the report: Spoon and fork set, color changing to hot and cold temperatures, 6 pack, 3 forks, 3 spoons, assorted colors

I have recently purchased the Munchkin ColorReveal Color Changing Utensils. I hand washed them before use. I have used these utensils on several different occasions with my children and I used the fork tonight and confirmed for myself; the fork tasted absolutely rancid. It was a chemical taste that stayed in my mouth for about 30 minutes even after drinking and eating something. I then proceeded to taste the rest of the utensils and it was the same outcome. I have only hand washed these utensils in [REDACTED] dish soap, just like the rest of my dishes. It has been several hours now and I still have stomach pain, as well as my daughter who informed me of the taste. I have never had this experience before so I know it is an issue with the utensils. A quick [REDACTED] search showed me that I was not the only person to experience this issue.

The product, in the report: Munchkin Color Reveal Forks and spoons.

My daughter has been using the Munchkin color reveal spoons and forks. We realized theres a lingering chemical taste no matter how many times we wash them. She also developed some speech impairments while using them. We arent totally sure they caused it, but we know her speech issues disappeared around the same time we stopped use of the product. On Targets website there are multiple reviews that state the cutlery has a chemical taste.

The product, in the report: Munchkin Raise Toddler Fork and Spoon set

My child’s utensil had a small piece fall out. This happened with two separate items of the same type. The first time it wasn’t a big deal - I noticed it right away. The second time it fell into my daughter’s food. She told an adult, but I fear another kid could end up eating it or choking on it.

Made Jun 3, 2024, sent to the company Jun 6, 2024, published by CPSC Jun 21, 2024

The product, in the report: Munchkin Color Reveal Utensils, Toddler, 12 M+ - 6 utensils

Purchased the Munchkin Color Reveal toddler/baby fork and spoon set and my 16 month old twins had been using for approximately 1 month upon noticing an extremely bad chemical taste on all of the items (mouth numbing, throat burning bad). I notified the company to let them know and they were apologetic and offered to replace, which I didn’t want another set due to the issues with this set. Upon further review, I noticed that there have been negative reviews for the exact same reason dating back to 2021, which seems to indicate that this is a recurring issue with this set. Maybe they’re safe to consume food from, but I can’t imagine anything that tastes this bad is safe and not an indication of some sort of coating and/or plastic degradation happening.
