The product, in the report: EKO 80L/21G Motion Sensor Trash Can

The plastic handle popped off the side of the trash can. While struggling to remove a garbage bag from the can the handle came off and the metal sliced my hand like a razor blade.

Made Jul 22, 2015, sent to the company Jul 30, 2015, published by CPSC Aug 13, 2015

The product, in the report: This recall involves EKO Sensible Eco Living motion sensor trash cans. The trash cans open when they detect motion nearby. The recalled trash cans are stainless steel, about 31 inches tall and about 14 inches square. They have the capacity to hold 21 gallons (80 liters) of trash and the lid operates with eight AA batteries. Model number EK9288BMT-80L is on a product identification label on the underside of the trash can lid.

Plastic insert to trash can came dislodged while dumping the can into a larger trash bin. The metal was exposed and sliced my fingertip resulting in 14 stitches and almost the loss of my fingertip.
