The product, in the report: Automatic Kitchen Trash Can

Purchased new auto door opening trash can. Inserted batteries into battery pack then installed pack into compartment in lid. Placed lid on can but would not activate. Turned lid back over and compartment was smoking & hot to the touch. Opened compartment to find that spring had bent sideways upon installing pack into compartment & was smoldering. It was the spring for the negative terminal had bent up enough to touch the positive terminal and start melting.
