The product, in the report: Zavor brand 7.4 quart pressure cooker--model ZAVOR® EZLock, Model ZCWEZ03 pressure cooker
My client had a ZAVOR® EZLock, Model ZCWEZ03 pressure cooker release superheated steam causing scald injuries. The address where this happened was in his home in [REDACTED]. When researching the history of Zavor brand pressure cookers, I found a disturbing trend of such injuries and lawsuits against Zavor and Fagor (a predecessor company that went into bankruptcy due to the lawsuits). A management group from Fagor continued making the defective pressure cookers under the Zavor brand name. The manufacturer appears to have failed to comply with Section 15(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act and further appears to have willfully evaded the reporting requirements leaving behind a slew of injured people due to defective products. There are many lawsuits throughout the country that have been filed against this manufacturer and its predecessor concerning the same line of pressure cookers. I did not, however see any reports to the CPSC
