Hello,
On September 26th I purchased a MegaChef 12 Quart Digital Pressure Cooker with 15 Preset Options and Glass Lid, Silver from Amazon. On Saturday October 25th, it caught fire while in use and caused some minor damage and personnel injuries. Fortunately, we were fully in attendance and noticed what was happening and were able to act immediately and were able to prevent serious property damage and possible loss of life. After a deeper dive into the customer reviews this is a product that apparently has a recurring issue with catching fire. I have notified Amazon, but it is still being sold. I can provide pictures if needed.

No one hurt Made Aug 28, 2025, sent to the company Sep 8, 2025, published by CPSC Sep 22, 2025
The product, in the report: The Pressure Cooker by MegaChef. 12-Quart Digital Pressure Cooker. Model MCPR3800.
I just received a pressure cooker that I ordered and I believe its an unsafe product. One of the first things youre supposed to do is to run a test by filling the pot 2/3 full of water and running a cycle. The pot is never supposed to be filled more than 2/3 full of anything. I noticed that the measurement lines in the pot are in 5ths not 3rds, so there is no clear indication of where 2/3 full is. So then I thought I would just use the cup measurement lines on the other side of the indicator and do a calculation. Since its a 12 quart pot, which is 48 cups, 2/3 full would be just under 32 cups. When I poured 32 cups in, it came up to a mark that said 20 cups. So the measurement lines are way off. Since pressure cookers can be very dangerous if used improperly, Im returning it without using. But I am afraid that imprecise or inaccurate measurements could be dangerous for someone else. The manufacturer gave me very unsatisfactory excuses when I called.
