The product, in the report: Porcelain enamel with a steel core pot used for both canning with mason jars and for preparing food. The product is measured primarily by volume: 21.5 quarts. The product is approximate 12 x 11 x 16 inches and includes a lid and a wire rack to hold canning jars. The product was purchased at Walmart in a retail store. It is also sold on [REDACTED]. MANUFACTURE DATE IS UNKNOWN.
Granite Ware 21.5 quart canner is a large steel pot with a porcelain enamel coating. The porcelain layer is very thin and fragile and started breaking off on my brand new model. The porcelain is essentially glass and when I attempted to pickup the pieces that broke off from the carpet I was impaled just from lightly touching the porcelain, drawing blood. Since the porcelain is also on the interior of the product, it could become part of the food being prepared therein and pose a serious danger to the consumer by ingesting sharp porcelain shards.
