The product, in the report: Five-Quart Pressure Cooker

The consumer indicates that the pressure cooker was on for approximately twenty minutes when she noticed that steam had not stopped coming from the lid and handle of the unit. The consumer took the pressure cooker off the stove and noticed that the bottom of the food was burnt.

A few minutes after the consumer turned on the pressure cooker once again, she noticed steam coming mostly from the handle that would not subside. The unit was on for about twenty-minutes as well. The consumer removed the unit off the stove and as she placed it on the sink, the lid popped off, spilling the contents everywhere.

The consumer states that the unit has only been used twice. The consumer plans on keeping her pressure cooker for the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

I bought a Bella M-60B23G 6qt pressure cooker and the second time using it. The unit gave an error code of E2 so I left the room for literally 5 minutes to get the user manual. When I came back in I smelled a weird chemical smell and looked at the pressure cooker. It was melting! The bottom was smoking so I flipped it over (the lid was removed at the time) to find the bottom black plastic melting. After flipping it over I was looking at the bottom and I noticed more smoke coming from the other side. The inside metal (aloy aluminum I assume) melted and dripped onto my countertop, which melted a burn into my countertop from the dripping metal coming into contact with my countertop. My countertop is a composit material and the spot left is a discoloration that felt bumpy as the top layer of the counter was burnt through. Good thing I was able to recognize there was something wrong early or it most likely would have caught fire. I am in the process of contacting the company. I bought this item from Target.
