Hospital admission Made May 10, 2025, sent to the company May 14, 2025, published by CPSC May 29, 2025
The product, in the report: The product was touted as high efficiency monosillicrystaline solar panels of the 300w class falling into the output range of 18.8-22.2v and 16.0-20.5a The size weight and output were not equal to a standard 300w panel and the output claim is for twice as much as standard current output .the product has a very aftermarket component soldered into its junction box
In October I received FEMA relief funding for the purpose of restoring my electrical utilities due to the loss of equipment and utility related hurricane Helene
I made the purchase off Amazon for 4x2 (8 total) 300w (2400w total) solar panels with the influence of the “Amazon’s Top Choice” badge next to the listing.
After receiving the 8 panels I reported 2 of them as being messed up possibly from shipping. I was given a refund for half the transaction.
I install the panels, install the new equipment and begin monitoring solar production. The PwM charge controller I was using claimed 44v and 80a output based on my 4p2s configuration. This means I am getting 22.2v and 20a per panel in the 2 strings combining them in series to make the above number.
I had consistent failures with my solar system due to the battery bank being nearly dead and shutting off by nearly 2am. This continues for months, me spending additional funds and the refund I received on advanced equipment and measurement tools.
Upon further investigation after replacing every component besides the battery and the panels I discovered an anomaly about the panels themselves. They each had on each polarity junction box a JFET-R voltage regulator which is not a standard blocking diode as other panels have.
Further investigation into this anomaly with more advanced equipment and expert review of the set up determined the JFET-R components are actually hidden Amplifier IC nodes used to amplify the gain of the signal emitted by the solar panels before it can reach measuring equipment so that it reads a false highly inflated number
A typical solar panel of 300w class is twice the weight of the ones I received, half the amperage output and double the voltage as well as some fair bit larger length or width wise.
The sticker on the back of the panel had no manufacturer name or information but touted safety and compliance certification badges and the false output of 18.8v and 16a
Further research indicates even a panel of twice the power a typical 300w class photovoltaic cell in the class of 600w output only have a voltage and current reading of 30(some odd) and 17a with a short circuit of 18 meaning this 300w panel has an isc that outclasses anything in the market at all
The purpose of the purchase was to restore my electrical utilities after hurricane Helene. I am sensitive to heat as a cancer survivor and live year round in a camper. Summer is the time of year I absolutely for medical reasons need to have a method of cooling my environment. Without the full 2400w of solar panels I can not directly power my HVAC system of 18000btu
I complained to Amazon executive customer relations and received the additional half of my purchase refund at this point it was conveyed in no uncertain terms that I should pursue the manufacturer and I won’t be receiving Amazon support for the additional losses related to uncovering the deceptive and fraudulent products.
In compliance with Amazons statement I research deeply for the manufacturer eco-baeerss according to the seller on the Amazon platform. They can not be found. They are a fabricated manufacturer
I made the conscious effort to purchase additional equipment equal to inadequate solutions to ensuring I endure the upcoming summer in a albiet extremely suffering but somewhat neutral health condition
This event has left me to abandon my recovery plan for full restoration of my electrical utilities.
If I had continued to believe the deception that there is no misrepresentation of the output of the solar array then by the time full peak summer arrived it could have lead to a death of my pet, heat stroke or death in me or my wife.
That said I am out the allocated relief funding and still do not have adequate utilities even though the purchase of 2400w of panels would indeed have been enough.
UPDATED ON 5/15/2025: [I also was able to find the original manufacturer of the panels who admit the seller and manufacturer on the Amazon site are indeed ficticious as well as acknowledgement of the brand of panel does in fact belong to them
i would be more than happy just to recieve the 2400w i paid for or equivalent with a warranty and at least 50% of the extraordinary purchases made in trying to troubleshoot the falsely labeled panels i did overpay for ]
