The product, in the report: OE-34 solar roofing tiles

I believe CPSC has a file already activated for the OE -34 Solar Roofing Tiles. The original manufacturer was Open Energy. Applied Solar LLC acquired this company. In 2009 Applied Solar LLC declared bankruptcy and to my knowledge is now out of business. The distributor of our solar roofing tiles is Eagle Roofing.

In a letter dated June 17, 2011 from Applied Solar LLC we were instructed to shut down our solar system due to a fire that occurred on May 12, 2011 involving this product. The OE-34 solar tiles are very similar to the Suntech Solar Blend tiles that are involved in a safety recall as well. In fact we have been told that Suntech manufactured the components of the OE-34 tiles. Due to the notice issued last June and in subsequent notices we have been unable to use our solar system due to this safety issue. Mr. [REDACTED] of CPSC sent us a letter dated April 26, 2012 advising us that our solar panel connectors were installed without protective clamshell covers. The letter further stated that CPSC staff is investigating to determine other possible entities that may contribute to corrective action for consumers. We are requesting that you conduct an investigation of Eagle Roofing Products, 3546 N. Riverside Ave, Rialto, CA phone 909-355-7000, the OE-34 solar tile distributor, and roofing installer, Leonard Roofing, Inc. 43280 Business Park Drive, #107 Temecula, CA 92590, phone 951-506-3811, and Suntech America, Inc. San Francisco, CA 888-770-7122. We believe that these companies can and are obligated to contribute to a corrective plan of action. We have a ten year warranty on the solar roofing tile with Eagle Roofing Products. Leonard Roofing and Eagle Roofing Products are awaiting additional technical information from CPSC regarding the clamshell connector repair.
