  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jan 22, 2014, sent to the company Jan 30, 2014, published by CPSC Feb 13, 2014

The product, in the report: Westinghouse motion controlled power strip, motion sensing ornament automatically activates 6 outlet power strip

Purchased a motion controlled power strip. It required batteries and was then to be put on a Christmas tree and when you walked past it would turn the lights on. When the batteries were put into the unit It got so hot that it burned my finger. If it had been put on the Christmas tree it would have caught the tree on fire. This could have resulted in loss of life. I also have diabetes and my finger till has some pain a month later. I contacted the manufacturer and they refused to do anything about it or to tell me what to do I have contacted Target and they were very co operative. I believe that the federal government should examine this item an require he manufacture to recall all of these items and reimburse purchasers for the cost also they should be fined for not reporting this problem after they were told about it
