The product, in the report: Utilitech surge protector model 0615224, white 6 plug, reset and off switch. I am a retired fire and arson investigator this device has reset on the switch . The owner said the surge protector had tripped out before and so she just reset it. I believe this gives the owner a false impression the surge protector is safe to use.

Utilitech Power Strip failure model 0615224 . An electrical arch inside the unit burnt through the plastic on the back side and burnt the un-used plugs and on / off switch. The surge protector burnt from inside out. The most significant damage was on the back side of the switch where it burnt through the plastic. There is smoke and heat damage around the switch and all the plugs.
