The product, in the report: This is a usb wall plate with phone holder by merkury innovations UPC code 194383021711
This report is for a wall plate surge protector from merkury innovations (upc 194383021711). Upon plugging in a cord into the device it shorted out the circuit in my house. Upon closer inspection of the product you can see that the contacts for the receptacle are prone to bending when a plug is inserted and will short out against the other polarity contact if it does. This seems like it could easily cause a fire if used on older houses with less robust wiring/breakers/fuses.
