The product, in the report: Schneider Electric APC products model BK500MC serial #: PB0027113224 battery backup / surge protector

Schneider Electric. APC battery back up. On the morning of September 5th, upon entering my home office, the room was filled with black smoke and smelled of an electrical fire. I called the Ventura Fire Department. They determined that the APC battery back up item model BK500MC serial #: PB0027113224 was the source of the smoke. I called Schneider Electric later that day, reported the incident. The customer support rep took all my information, then decided that it was not going to be replaced because the battery was not melted. I told him that I thought it was important that they know that this product was a risk.
