The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

No one hurt Made Mar 30, 2017, sent to the company May 18, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 2, 2017
The product, in the report: White Ace surge protector with 7 outlets/ports.
On Thursday March 16th 2017, I was sleeping and was awakened around 3:00AM by the sound of my Ace Surge protector sparking and smoking soon after. I had my laptop and speakers(subwoofer & 2 speakers) plugged in, and the malfunction ruined these electronics. I can no longer use the speakers and my laptop performance has significantly deteriorated after the incident.
Additionally, the surge protector burned my carpeting and the smell of burnt plastic/carpet lingered in my bedroom for over a week.
I have contacted Ace, via email, to be compensated for my laptop, speakers, and carpeting. The agent sent me a form to mail in, but I do not want to lose the form in the mail, nor do I want to spend extra for a tracking number and etc.
It’s 2017; is there a way I could proceed with my claim electronically? This could have been a serious accident and my house could have burned down if I hadn’t woken up, or if the incident occurred when no one was home. Please take care of this. Thank you.
