I am a pediatrician at a US Military Base in Germany. We have a case out here where a 10 month baby got his leg caught in the first two slats of the side rail of the toddler bed. The injury was so severe that initially the doctors at the hospital thought they would have to amputate.
This child has compartment syndrome and has already had 2 surgeries. A 3rd surgery will occur today and a 4th next week. At this time we do not think amputation will be necessary
The toddler bed is called Baby Relax Toddler Bed Cherry and was purchased at Walmart. The model number is WM 1646RC
