Emergency room Made Mar 26, 2014, sent to the company Apr 3, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 24, 2014
The product, in the report: It is a cherry Manchester conversion crib.
I bought a Cherry Manchester Conversion Crib from babys r us in December of 2010. My daughter just turned two in January of this year. I decided to convert the crib into a toddler bed. In order to do that you need to remove the front of the crib and the side posts that usually hold up the crib remain. This conversion went well for about three months. On march 12 my daughter went into her bed to take a nap. Upon waking up she stood up to walk over to me and slipped backwards. She hit her head on the side of the post (which is very sharp) and she split her head open. There was blood EVERYWHERE! We brought her downstairs and tried to clean up most of the blood to see how bad the wound was. We took her to METRO emergency room where she had to get stitches. She also had a concussion. She didn’t know who I was, or who her daddy was. The following morning I called the manufacturer of the crib and she promised me that I would get a response within twenty four hours. She even sent me a letter stating she made the manufacturer aware of the problem. They did not contact me. I called them again, and they said they were not aware of the situation. I told them I wanted my money back for the crib because I no longer want it in my house. They said they would refund me my money and they still have not. They scheduled a day to pick up the crib and never showed up. Now they are ignoring me. IF my daughter had to get stitches and had a concussion due to this imagine what could happen to another child? It could be worse. I have contacted an attorney and will be taking this into a legal matter. They say they are all about child safety when they ARE NOT! Or they would not be ignoring this situation.
