  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 26, 2012, sent to the company Jan 25, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 8, 2013

The product, in the report: Attic Ladder for 8 ft ceiling

On November 24th, 2012 caller was just getting on his attic ladder to climb up and retrieve Christmas decorations when he felt the left side of the ladder disengage at the first fold metal casting which snapped. Once he felt the left side of the ladder disengage he began to step off the ladder when the right side also disengaged. He fell to the ground but was not injured because his wife actually broke his fall, she also was not injured.

The ladder was installed in the house during building in October 2005. He has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them.

He is reporting this incident because the ladder is just 7 years old and could have caused great injury to persons climbing it.

He is asking that this ladder be recalled and that he be reimbursed for the ladder he is having installed to replace this ladder due to his being very much afraid of the ladder.

Caller is 71 yrs old and his wife is 69 yrs old, they could have been very seriously injured.
