The product, in the report: The Land of Nod Petite Marguerite Twin Bed. Dimensions 43.25 W x 78.75 D x 44 H. SKU 617515
I purchased a twin size bed for my 5 year old from The Land of Nod. After having the bed delivered and professionally put together, I purchased a twin size mattress. There is approximately 3 inch gap from where the mattress ends and the bed frame. I honestly didn’t think anything of it and first, as in hindsight I should have. My daughter, as 5 year olds will do, was jumping on her bed and got her foot caught in the cap and twisted her ankle. She could have been much more seriously hurt. I went onto the The Land of Nod webiste and pulled up the bed description for the Petite Marguerite bed. Upon looking at the dimensions of the bed and where it was made I was able to determine that the bed was made in Vietnam and the dimensions of the bed are 43.25 W x 78.75 D x 44 H. Well, a twin size mattress, even the ones that Land of Nod sells are 38 inches W. This explains the gap! I then went to a website that tells me international matress sizes (link below) where it listed Twin measurements in the USA/Canada 39 inches, Europe 36 inches and Asia 42 inches! That also explains a great deal. The bed frame would be fine if I lived in Asia/Vietnam where the bed was made. I have called Land of Nod and they said that there products are made for US specifications, but this is clearly not the case. I am awaiting a call from a supervisor, but the bottom line is a child could get seriously injured. I have resorted to jamming towels in the gap between the bed and the mattress so my daughter doesn’t get hurt again. This was not a cheap piece of furniture and I am hoping that something can be done about this, but I think consumers should be forewarned. http://www.mattresssizes.info/mattress_dimension_chart.html
