No incident, no one hurt Made Dec 6, 2022, sent to the company Dec 20, 2022, published by CPSC Jan 5, 2023
The product, in the report: White steel alloy twin platform bed Sold by Amazon: ASIN # [REDACTED}
I bought this bed [Mellow Rocky Base C 14” Platform Bed Heavy Duty Steel White, w/ Patented Wide Steel Slats - Twin] through Amazon on Aug. 31, 2022 for my son. [REDACTED]
It is advertised to hold 500 pounds. My son is about 210 pounds. His memory foam mattress is about 30 pounds.
The bed seemed OK in the beginning. As time went on, it creaked more and more. It also wiggled when anyone sat on it or lay down on it. Tightening the screws helped. But when the screws couldn’t be tightened any more, the bed creaked and wiggled even more.
I took the bed apart on 12-5-22 because the foot of the bed was folding under. It appeared it would fail altogether in the next few days or weeks. Where the foot of the bed connects to the side rails, the steel is so thin [and shearing off] that there’s no realistic expectation of this bed holding up under normal use. This bed is unsafe. No one was injured by this bed because I pro-actively took it down and removed it.
This bed was used in our home for sleeping. It had normal use. No one abused it in any way.
