Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 8, 2026, sent to the company Oct 15, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 29, 2026
The product, in the report: Black Malouf E255 Queen Adjustable bed frame
I purchased an ME255 Queen Adjustable Bed Frame from Mattress by Appointment in Colorado Springs, CO on 11/01/2025 with a mattress. On 10/08/2026 around 1:30 AM, the frame made a rapid clicking noise and started smoking. We immediately unplugged and flipped over the frame to assess the situation. It had caught fire in the control box and burnt a hole through the plastic of said box. While I was in emotional distress, my partner had to set it out in the garage and began ventilating the room. We had to leave the premises for over 4 hours, due to the toxic fumes which were causing us respiratory distress. We have since wrapped the frame in heavy duty plastic and ventilated the garage as it is still strongly releasing the toxic fumes. We also took all photographic evidence required to file the complaint.
