We recently purchased a bed frame from Crate and Barrel. The bed was assembled by the people who delivered it. The bed was meant for our guest bedroom and was only slept on once by one person of approximately 160 pounds. This was about 30 days after the bed was delivered. We noticed later in the day that there were 2 small pieces of metal on the floor near the corner of the bed. We removed the mattress from the bed frame and found out that the pieces of metal are the ends of 2 screws which are meant to hold up the side board.

The screws which held up the side board had broken in half and the side board was only held up by two very small screws. Upon taking the bed apart, the other 2 screws broke as we disconnected the size board from the foot board. We then found another corner of the bed had screws which were broken in half. In my opinion this bed is unsafe because the screws are defective/unable to hold the weight of the bed on it’s own. We feel fortunate that the bed did not collapse as someone was sleeping on it, otherwise the headboard would have come slamming down on the occupant.
