The product, in the report: King-Sized Canopy Bed

04/28/2011 - The consumer indicates that when the bed was being installed, the middle leg gave out and he called the installers right before they left his home and they fixed the issue. The consumer had asked them if the bed was safe to use and they assured him it was. The consumer is unaware what company the installers were from and the retailer is withholding that information.

04/29/2011 - The consumer indicates that he was laying on the top part of the bed on his back while he was recuperating from a neck injury. As he turned around, one of the legs gave out. Instinctively, his upper torso slammed him forward. Once this happened, the consumer’s back and leg went numb. The bed collapsed again and one side of the footboard was hanging two feet away from the bed, while the other side was still attached. When the consumer was trying to get out, the side of the footboard that was still attached struck him in the head and dazed out. The consumer got out of the room to get fresh air.

When he was finally was able to get out of the bed, the consumer’s leg gave out.

The consumer called Corporate Office and he was given the runaround. The consumer contacted the retailer asking to get the bed out of his home but they said it was too late that day. About an hour later, two representatives showed to his home, disassembled the bed and took pictures. The gentlemen admitted that they had seen some situations like that but not to that extent when the consumer asked them.

The retailer had been court-ordered to investigate but they have been adamant.

The consumer indicates that he had a preexisting injury on his C3 and C4 cervical vertebrae however they were not surgical and have now been made worse after the accident.

The consumer indicates that when he was seen by his Doctor he was prescribed [REDACTED] immediately.
