The product, in the report: Medical King Bed Assist Rail Model #7007

I received an email from Amazon last month concerning a recall for the Medical King Bed Assist Rail Model#7007. I purchased the product for my Mother who has mobility issues due to Parkinson’s disease . Earlier this year her caregiver entered the home and found my mother trapped between the rail and the mattress. she suffered paralysis in her left arm as a result of a compressed nerve. Although the doctors said it could be a temporary condition she has not regained full function after 10 months. I just want others to be aware of this potential hazard.

The product, in the report: Medical King bed assist rail with adjustable height.

We bought at Medical King bed assist rail for my elderly father’s bed. One night he rolled off the bed and became jammed between the bed and the rail. Luckily, I had a room monitor and could hear when he made sounds. I was woken up by his moaning and went in to find him caught and unable to move. I know that this product now has a voluntary recall but I thought I should write to you about our experience. We were very fortunate that he didn’t suffer any permanent harm.

The product, in the report: Medical king Bed Assist Rail with Adjustable Heights - Bed Assist bar with Storage Pocket - Bed Rails for Seniors with Hand Assistant bar - Easy to get in or Out of Bed Safely with Floor Support

I just received this notice of a product recall from Amazon who had records that I had purchased one of these. “Medical King Recalls About 222,000 Adult Portable Bed Rails Due to Serious Entrapment and Asphyxia Hazards; One Death Reported.” I bought one of these for my father who was living in an assisted living facility. He was found dead on Feb 17 2024 under circumstances very similar to those described in the product recall. On the day of his death, the care staff brought him breakfast in his room and reported nothing out of the ordinary. When they returned to bring lunch, they found him trapped between the bed and the bead rail dead.
