The product, in the report: Baby Joy toddler bed rail, 71 inch
We bought 71 inch Baby Joy bed rails through Amazon for our toddler son. The rails have two anchor straps that both connect on a diagonal with an anchor plate positioned in the middle of the other side of the bed. This product is not safe, even though we had followed the manufacturer’s instructions for proper installation and use. Our son fell between the rail and the bed. The first time he wedged himself between the rail and the bed. We made sure we tightened the straps as much as we could and we were unable to make the rail bow out so we thought we had not tightened the anchor straps enough the first time and felt safe to use it again. Despite the straps being as tight as we could get them and ensuring that the anchor point was properly positioned, the rail still bowed out enough in the middle when our son rolled against it and this time he fell from his bed to the floor, falling between the rail and the bed. Luckily he fell on carpeted floor and did not injure himself. This product is NOT SAFE, even when used as designed. I urge the CPSC to take immediate action to ensure no other children are put at risk of injury or death by this product.
