The product, in the report: Electric massage office chair
I bought a “True Comfort” massage office chair from Office Depot store #2081. Item# 41083. I bought it on 12/26/11.
Last night my back hurt so I turned on the massage function of the chair. I think it was on about an hour. I suddenly began to smell electrical burning type smoke. I grabbed the control module for the chair and it was VERY hot. I shut off the unit and sniffed it. The odor appeared to come from the hot unit. The wall transformer was not hot.
I have disconnected power to the chair now. It is comfortable anyway so I will continue to use the chair without the massage.
**Also it is impossible to avoid running over the wires when rolling the chair back and forth. This must eventually lead to frayed wires.
