The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made May 30, 2013, sent to the company Jun 20, 2013, published by CPSC Jul 5, 2013

The product, in the report: dinette chairs made of wood and metal and covered in cloth material

(11/16/2012 or 12/27/2012) The consumer ordered the chairs from the retailer, but they had to be custom made.

(1/22/2013) The consumer picked up the chairs and brought them to her home. The consumer said that the base of the chairs were attached to the bucket portion of the chairs, at the warehouse, on the day that she picked them up.

The arms on both sides of 2 chairs are loose. Furthermore, the consumer said that none of the 4 chairs are very sturdy. The chairs have a swivel base on them, which limits how far back the chairs will tilt. The stopper detached from 1 of the chairs and this allows the chair to tilt back to the point where one can fall if sitting in it. There have not been any injuries, because the consumer is aware of the problems.

The consumer has contacted the retailer 4 or more times about her concerns. Her daughter has contacted the retailer and her son has gone to the retailer, but they have not done anything for her. The consumer said that at one point she was told that they (retailer) should get replacement buckets and replacement stoppers for the tilts on her chairs. These parts were supposed to be available by 5/27/13, but the retailer’s rep’s have not responded to the consumer about the availability of the parts.

The consumer stated that the retailer’s rep. (name unavailable) indicated that they have received complaints about the stoppers for these chair. The consumer believes that she spoke with [REDACTED] and was told that [REDACTED] would follow up with her, but no one ever did. The consumer said that the retailer’s rep. indicated that this might have been the result of children playing with the chairs. The consumer noted that there are no children in her home.

The retailer no longer answers calls from the consumer, but when her son called them from his cell phone, they did answer his call.

The son looked at the chairs to see if he could tighten the arms, but since the chair is covered by fabric, there is no way to tighten them, without cutting the fabric.
