How badly anyone was hurt

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: SPA Safety Series Drive Premium Shower Chair with folding back

Premium Shower Chair Item # BRTL12606-AST

This product should immediately be removed from all distributors and retailers. This product is unsafe and I could have lost my life using it. To adjust the height of the chair is dangerous in itself with little buttons which could release causing the user to fall to the floor of the shower. The worst and most dangerous part about using the chair is the rear part of the legs are held in by little plastic buttons which could never be safe for anyone. While sitting in the chair if you lean forward or backward the buttons pop out of joint holding the legs in position. It is not possible for any manufacturer to have tested this chair and then sold it as a safe unit. I used it in the shower and the leg of the chair disconnected and I fell hitting my head on the shower door and my elbow on the shower floor. I propose serious penalties for the designer, but much higher penalties for the person who tested it and approved it for use as a product that was safe.
