Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 19, 2024, sent to the company Jan 26, 2024, published by CPSC Feb 9, 2024

The product, in the report: RESPAWN 110 Gaming Chair (fabric gray color) (NOTE: this is regarding my 2nd chair that was sent to me in late March/early April 2023 as a replacement to the one purchased in November 2022.)

I have a gaming desk chair that I bought from Amazon just over a year ago (brand: RESPAWN). In just a few months the chair back completely broke. Respawn did send me a new chair when I complained to them. The replacement itself broke just under a year later (the entire chair broke off the pole that it sits on). It felt weird when I sat on it today which alerted me to the chair being defective. Thankfully it did not completely snap off as I was sitting on it or I would have suffered some significant fall injuries as I have some rigid furniture surrounding the area where I use the chair. I have taken a few pictures of the chair’s breakage for if they are needed. Thankfully the chair snapped off the base only when I pulled it away from my desk to evaluate it by hand.

The product, in the report: The product is black with orange piping around the edge of the seat and backrest. The headrest has silver accents. Material is PVC Leather. I have included a link to the exact site I purchased my product from.

Today I had the back of a gaming chair fail and collapse which caused the chair to topple backwards. This resulted in an injury and some damaged personal property. I bought the chair from Newegg.com (OMEGA-XI Gaming Chair from RESPAWN PRODUCTS by OFM Reclining) on 5/30/2020. I was the only individual using the chair at the time of the incident. The product was being used to sit at my computer desk to operate my computer. The product failure caused injury in the form of a sprained right wrist and hyperextension of the right arm. This also resulted in my beverage being spilled and damaging several computer peripherals (approx. $300 in personal property). The armrests are bolted to either side of the chair and their position is determined by the angle of the backrest. As the backrest reclines or rises the armrests adjust automatically per the orientation of the backrest. My backrest was set at a 100* angle. When the backrest failed it collapsed to almost a full 180* and the chair tipped backwards and to the right. When this occurred the space between the armrest and the seat bottom became very small. My right arm was caught and constricted during the collapse and fall of the chair. This resulted in a pop and sudden sharp pain in my right wrist as the full weight of the chair and myself fell onto it still caught in the armrest. All of this happened within a few seconds. This happened today and currently I still have considerable pain in my right wrist, right arm, right shoulder and neck. I am consulting this with my physician. I have sent correspondence to the individual seller and Newegg.com concerning this incident. Thank you for your time.
