The product, in the report: Modway EEI-2658-YLW-WHI-SET Bean Wicker Outdoor Patio Set
We purchased the Modway EEI-2658-YLW-WHI-SET Bean wicker outdoor patio set (hanging Bean Wicker chair) in August 2024. The chair is constructed with a tubular shell interwoven with wicker. In August of this year, the frame just sheared off, leaving a jagged edge and rendering the chair unusable. The product had been mounted and used fully in accordance with the instructions.
This kind of metal fatigue after two years of normal use is not acceptable. As an engineer I am able to see that the product is inferior and can simply give way under normal use.

The product, in the report: Modway Aura outdoor wicker rattan sofa. Dimensions: 75”L x 32”W x 32”H; Weight Capacity: 331 Lbs. Color: Gray and white
3.5 years ago, I purchased a couch by Modway. The specific couch is called the Aura outdoor sofa. This sofa was for my backyard in San Diego CA. I loved it so much that I purchased a matching sofa one year later in March and received it in April 2022. Within a single years time, the newer sofa started coming apart. First it started with the cushion covers, which had holes in them that I believe were a factory defect. Then, the wicker started cracking slowly. Now, less than 3 years later, it is completely destroyed and cant even be sat on. It literally crumbled when my child sat on it and she fell through the frame. She was not jumping or doing anything unreasonable - simply sitting.
I live in California where the weather is temperate and doesnt get too cold or rainy, so I am very disappointed and honestly, mostly confused. I have treated both of my couches the same way: always covering them, rarely using them, keeping them clean As I mentioned, I have two of these couches - the one I bought in 2021 is still in great condition and looks like new. However, this newer one is a disaster. I believe that less than 3 years is an unreasonable amount of time for couchs lifetime. It is no longer usable even after being consistently covered and barely used. The powder coating is also coming off of the framework as well.
Since I purchased this couch from Amazon, I reached out to the seller from whom I purchased it from there. I did this in 2024. However, since the couch was past the 30 day Amazon policy, and given the severe defects, the seller suggested that I reach out to Modway since this appears to be a factory defect/warranty issue. Per the Amazon listing, the couch is fade, water, and UV resistant, however, this has not proven to be true with this particular couch. After consulting with an engineer, we believe that this couch fell apart because it was not coated properly in UV coating. Quite simply: we believe this to be a batch defect. Given these circumstances, and because of the lack of safety, I reached out to Modway looking to replace this product. They basically told me that their return policy was over and that I was out of luck. As this is both a quality AND safety issue, I found this to be totally unacceptable, but they made it clear that they were unwilling to work with me. As such, I am reaching out for help. My family worries that others had a similar experience and we dont want more children or adults to get hurt.
I am happy to send more photos of the couch, which has been disposed of since due to safety issues.
