The chair was not safe and broke and went out from underneath me causing me to fall and get seriously injured. I wound up getting fractures in my back, etc. and it was extremely painful and scary and dangerous.

I purchased a Mainstays Louise Traditional 5-Piece Metal and Wood Dining set from Walmart.com. Upon assembling the set, I discovered that each of the four chairs was defective in construction. One of the holes in the metal supports was drilled in the wrong location and this defect was replicated across all four chairs. As a result, the metal cross bar at the bottom of each chair does not function as intended and the chairs are at an elevated risk of collapsing under the weight of their occupants. This design defect is documented in the photo that will be provided.

On December 14, 2019, my son in law was sitting on a card table chair which collapsed, hurting his hip and back. A few days later I researched the table and chairs and discovered it had been recalled January 2, 2014. I believe I have had the set for about four years, which means I have used it about four times. I only take it out at Christmas for an annual party. The recall says the chairs can collapse unexpectedly and has even caused finger amputation. Thank God that did not happen! The name of the product is Mainstays five-piece card table and chair sets. I ordered and picked up the table at Walmart on [REDACTED]. I know it has been several years, never the less I just discovered the recall. My husband attempted to return the set yesterday, at the same location. The return was refused by [REDACTED], Front End Team Lead. Mainstays is sold exclusively at Walmart. The recall number is 14-075. Is there really a time limit on recalled items?? Obviously we will never use it again. I appreciate your assistance.

My wife was sitting down on the fold-out chair that we purchased from Wal-Mart Mainstays brand in September 2018, and it collapsed causing her leg injury. The chair is supposedly rated for over 300 lbs. My wife and I are nowhere near the limit. The welds broke on the chair. When I started to check out the reviews and ratings on the walmart.com website, apparently this has been happening quite often to other customers as well.

I have a card table and chairs, bought from Walmart. I went to sit in the chair. I eased my way on to the chair and it collapsed. My LEFT side middle finger got stuck in the chair as it collapsed. With help to remove the chair from my hand. My finger was hanging there by just skin. I went to the hospital immediately and there I was informed that my finger had to be amputated. It was half way amputated.

13 months after purchase the seat bottoms to my patio furniture are giving out when someone is sitting on them. The weight limit of the chairs is 250 pounds, I only weigh 119 pounds so I am no where near exceeding the weight limit. The chairs are also only used occasionally and on a seasonal basis, so they are not falling apart from overuse. The first chair broke exactly 12 months after purchase while a guest was sitting in it and our guest ended up with several bruises. A month after that I fell through the chair and suffered from several cuts, scrapes and bruises all over my body.

The recall posted earlier today of the [REDACTED] bean bag chairs prompted me to check ours. It is a Mainstays brand chair, purchased at Wal-Mart about 2 years ago. It has the same zipper issue as the ones recalled in the [REDACTED]. recall. For now, I’m removing it from where my children can get to it as it does not have a permanently closed zipper (I was able to open both and get to the filler beads.

Caller stated that as soon as she sat in the chair the legs broke and she fell sideways hitting her head on the refrigerator. She stated that she received a headache that lasted for a few days and minor back pains. She did not receive medical attention for the injuries.
The product was returned to the retailer on 12/2013 for a refund.
Caller stated that she returned the product before the recall came out and would like to record this incident.

On September 24, 2013, I went to Walt-mart to purchase a table and chair set. When I got to the house, I took the items out of the box and wrapping. My friends and I were preparing to play dominoes. Two of my friends sat down in their chairs and they were fine. When I went to sit down in my chair, the chair immediately collapsed. When I looked at my finger, I realized it was cut off! My friend rushed me to the emergency room. According to my doctor’s report, approximately two thirds of the way along the nail bed the left index finger was amputated. The consumer says the chairs were taken out of the box for a family party. His grandmother went to sit in it when the chair immediately collapsed. She lost the ends of her middle two fingers on her right hand from laceration. His grandmother weighs roughly 100 pounds.
She was taken to the emergency room where they had to remove some more of her fingers down some more because of such a crushing blow. The fingers were brought down to the end of the knuckles. The consumer contacted the retailer and let them know what happened but they never got back to him. This product is under recall (Release # 14-075).

My 7year old had got an bean bag for Christmas and she was sitting on the bean bag when she saw her arm bleeding from a cut. The bean bag zipper was messed up and sharp in which cut her arm. She was in pain from the large cut. When my husband looked he noticed the zipper was very sharp.

The screws on the chairs and table will fall out randomly and pose a choking hazard to children and pets. Also the welds on the chairs fail and will cause the chair to break when its sat on. reviews of the product show that others have had this very same problem with this set if you read the 1 and 2 star reviews you will see it. Mainstays 5-Piece Wood and Metal Dining Set, Multiple Colors. my set is only 5 months old and i have already lost 3 screws on one chair. The screws will not go back in because the wood on the chairs is so cheap that it striped out causing the screws to drop onto my floor.
