No one hurt Made Jan 21, 2025, sent to the company Jan 23, 2025, published by CPSC Feb 6, 2025
The product, in the report: Here is the product page website. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lisabo-chair-ash-00457235/ It is the Lisabo dining chair, Ash version. Tested for: 243 lb Width: 18 1/8 “ Depth: 20 1/8 “ Height: 31 1/2 “ Seat width: 17 3/8 “ Seat depth: 15 3/8 “ Seat height: 17 3/4 “
We had a second IKEA Lisabo chair break while someone was sitting on it. The first time was a year and a half ago. My wife had come home from a lengthy hospital stay and it broke from underneath her. We thought it was a fluke. I noticed some of our chairs were missing screws recently and found they had fallen out at some point. I looked up the instructions to find the part numbers and found that the instructions don’t match the instructions. I called IKEA customer service and they were confused. We replaced one of the chair last fall and I noticed differences between it and the old one. The customer service rep told me there was no record of the chair being altered and if it had happened would have been given a new item number. While on the phone, I found an IKEA assembly manual that matched the chairs we have. The rep asked me for the ID number for the manual and could find no record of it existing. This is strange because the item has been redesigned and information on the old design is no longer provided to employees. Since the phone call, a second chair snapped on my son. These were bought in the last few years and we still have receipts. We are concerned the wood used is subpar and these chair are ticking time bombs. It is also trouble they have no record of this older model of chair exists in their system. We have several more of these chairs and it apears they all have to be replaced. No one was injured thankfully and there wasn;t any activity beyond normal usage of the chair. The chair that broke was one I typically use and I lost 60 pounds last year going from 210 to 160lbs.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Jan 2, 2025, sent to the company Jan 6, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 23, 2025
The product, in the report: IKEA Lisabo chair (color, ash), here is the shopping link: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lisabo-chair-ash-00457235/
I went to sit down on an IKEA Lisabo dining chair and it collapsed from underneath me once I tried to sit on it, this left me on the floor putting all my weight on my elbow which was super painful and I was holding my 2 month old baby who flew into the air and I luckily caught or could have been seriously injured. After I got up, I saw that the leg of the chair had cracked and it was only held together by what appears to be light glue (no screw or other reinforcement). We only had these dining chairs for a little over a year (purchased November 2023) and we do not use them everyday or stand on them, they are only used for their intended purpose. After this incident I had a lot of back pain and my elbow was very bruised and sore, I thought I might have had a fracture but did not (confirmed with a doctor), however this could have been much much worse which is why I want to report it. I also want to mention that this product on the IKEA website says it is tested at 243 pounds, but I am less than that. I hope this can help get this product off the market as I feel it is not safe.

I was sitting on my dining room chair, and leaned back slightly, and the entire back of the chair broke off, and I went with it. I landed on the ground. I cut my left hand on the left side of the chair where it broke as I was falling, slicing my hand on the sharp edge, and my leg kicked our dining room table as I was falling, leaving a bruise on my shin. My adult son was seated in my IKEA Poang chair when the wooden chair snapped, causing him to fall to the floor. The chair was beyond repair (I have pictures). The product, in the report: Childrens swivel chair - egg shape Ikea PS Lomsk Swivel Chair, Orange
About a month ago, I started noticing small metal rods on my carpet where my kids play. I thought one of their toys fell apart. However, I kept finding more and more of these, and then I realized our Ikea Childrens egg chair was coming apart. This prodict is targeted to little kids, and infants can choke on these items. The chair is an IKEA PS Lomsk Swivel Chair purchased around 2008, and the part is the roller bearing axle about 1.5 cm long and 3 cm in diameter.

Hurt, care not known Made Mar 20, 2012, sent to the company Apr 6, 2012, published by CPSC Apr 20, 2012
The product, in the report: Children’s Chair (wood)
The consumer stated that the seat and back of the children’s chair are made from nylon mesh and are attached with staples. After several uses the staples break and are exposed which caused the staples to lacerate his 3 year old child’s leg (not sure which one). No medical attention was needed. First aid was administered at home.
The consumer contacted the retailer in 2011 and was advised that he could not return the product.
The consumer feels that these chairs are a safety hazard for children and should be investigated.
