First aid Made Aug 9, 2026, sent to the company Aug 12, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 26, 2026
The product, in the report: A wooden Adirondack Chair. Curious that you can no longer buy these from Home Depot. They now only sell these chairs made of plastic. Did they change materials as a result of safety-related complaints and warranty issues? Seems to be an indication they know these chairs are defective. Did they report as the law requires? Where is the recall?
We purchased Hampton Bay Adirondack chairs from Home Depot about 4 years ago. Wooden chairs of this type should have a useful life of 7 to 10 years. My wife sat down in one of the chairs and it collapsed, causing here to fall to the ground. She suffered an injury from the fall. I have photos of the chair in question. We purchased a total of six chairs.

The product, in the report: Hampton Bay Fall River HIGH patio dining chairs—2 pack
Hampton Bay Fall River HIGH Patio Swivel Dining Chair has cracked/separated in three of four steel supports on chair base. Purchased in the spring of 2013 Chair is unbalanced. Fear is that steel support is close to completely severing at base. There is a recall as of 8/19/16 on this product with the swivel patio chairs. However, when the Brown Jordan Services were notified, it was explained that the HIGH patio dining chairs are not included in the recall.
Thank you.

Emergency room Made May 23, 2020, sent to the company Jun 25, 2020, published by CPSC Jul 10, 2020
The product, in the report: Hampton Bay swivel chair
I sat down in my patio chair, leaned back, and it immediately fell back and then rolled to the left. I instinctively tried to catch myself but unfortunately was holding a glass of water. I felt the glass shatter in my hand and cut into my finger. I had a neighbor take me to the ER where I received 4-5 stitches. Additionally, I also have a few other minor scrapes and cuts.
After getting home from the hospital, I saw how the chair had broken and found they had been recalled. To my knowledge I was never notified of the recall even after dozens of trips to the same store since the recall was announced. I believe it was purchased with my [REDACTED] credit card, so they should have my contact info.

The product, in the report: Hampton Bay swivel patio chair, appears to be the Statesville Steel collection.
We were given a set of Hampton Bay chairs and table as a gift. Within the past three months, two of the chairs have broken at the weld and the chair has fallen off of the base. Both the breaks resulted in the chair user falling to the ground though no serious injuries occurred. We have now taken the chairs out of use but they are only about two years old.

My wife and I were sitting on Hampton Bay Edington swivel chairs, when, without cause her chair catastrophically failed and collapsed. She fell to the concrete patio and sustained minor injuries. The chair supports, where they join the base, ALL FOUR of them sheared off. Immediately after recovering from the incident, I inspected the other swivel chair in the collection and noticed that it too had fractures in the same location as the other chair. This chair was removed from use immediately.

The product, in the report: Fall river swivel patio chair from Home Depot
My husband was sitting in our swivel rocker Memorial weekend when it broke out of thin air. Luckily no one was hurt; it could have been so much worse. Had it happened any earlier, a new orn baby could have been injured. Later that weekend I looked online to see if there a replacement base was available, in which I discovered a recall for that very same reason. I’m not sure how we weren’t aware; possibly because the patio set was an anniversary gift. We have taken very good care of this patio set, and it’s very frustrating to know this could have been prevented.

The product, in the report: Outdoor dining set
We have the Hampton Bay Fall River set, with two Swivel Chairs. Last week we were sitting in them when the base on one broke and sent me feet over head backwards. Thank god no serious injury, just some bumps and bruising. So my husband checked the other one and noticed it too was breaking at the base of the swivel. We have not had any issues with these prior to this. We have only had a leg on one of the chairs break and they replaced it. That is not the case now. So my husband sent them to the scrap recycle plant in our county since we were going to have to buy news ones to replace these. Upon my research as to where and how much will it cost, we came across this recall on them. WE HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALL ON THIS PRODUCT. So not only do we not have these chairs anymore, but there is no replacement for them. So now we have to either buy chairs that do not match or replace the entire set, which were are not prepared to do just yet. Not sure if anything can be done for us, but thought I would include our issue with these chairs.

The product, in the report: 2 chair Patio Bistro set
We purchased a Bistro patio set from Home Depot 7/12/17. We purchased it for our garage the set was never outside in the weather.February of 2017 we were sitting in the garage watching TV my husband leaned his back against the chair the chair snapped and he fell backwards almost hit his head on a table saw. We took the set back we like it so we thought it was a fluke thing and got another set. On 3/17/18 it happened again this time my husband leaned froward and the chair snapped and her fell forward on to his knees which one of the knees had been replaced. We took the set back told the manger at the Home Depot store what happened. They gave us a store credit but we did not feel comfortable buying any other patio furniture form them because it was all made my Hampton Bay. I told the manager how unsafe this product is and it should be removed the the floor. I asked for the contact information of the manufacture. I contacted them on 3/19/17 they said someone would get back with me in 24-48 hours no every contacted me. I called them 3 more times and was told the same thing again no on contacted me. The manufacture is Yotio their phone number is [REDACTED their email address is customerservice@yotrious.com. I emailed them pictures of the chair and the receipts. Yotrio did give me a case # [REDACTED]. I believe that this product is very dangerous and should not be sold and removed from the stores before someone really get injured badly.

The product, in the report: Hampton Bay Statesville patio furniture (5 piece round)
My husband and I purchased the Hampton Bay Statesville patio set in 2016 with the following number although I’m not sure if they are a serial number: 2004661 122015. The chairs are all slingback swivel chairs. This patio set has stayed in our indoor/enclosed sun room and has never been outside in the weather. My husband went to set down and instead hit the floor with minor bruising/injury. The welds on the chair had completely broke. We too the chair to Home Depot on West Reno in Oklahoma City and tried to get it exchanged, or at least some sort of assistance. The man working returns dialed Hampton Bay customer service and handed my husband the phone, and after the conversation we emailed Hampton Bay photos of the chair. We were told there is nothing they can do about it, but we could purchase parts or new chairs. We have inspected the other chairs and we see that in more has cracking along the welds on the swivel base. I am at a loss on how to get the issue resolved because we can’t seem to get help and no one (Home Depot or Hampton Bay) wants to hold responsibility for their product. After doing some online Googling I found that there are other sets that have been recalled. Why wasn’t the Statesville?

The product, in the report: Hampton Bay Swivel Patio Chair
Hampton Bay Swivel Patio Chair - There is a recall, but not for the issue I had. The recall is for only the base. My chair collapsed on me when sitting on it causing me to injure my tailbone and head. The welding on the bottom of the seat entirely broke off from it seams. There have been other issues exactly as to what happened to me on consumer affairs. The seams are located immediately underneath the seat and are attached to the top section of the chair that slides into the base. The recall is only for the base.

We were sitting outside enjoying the nice weather while I am on the computer and he is doing something else. We were also chatting but all of a sudden I heard a snap, and I and the chair went over. As I’m going down I am thinking to avoid the hole that i was about to be in, my friend is blind and his dog made a hole for himself the other day, and so i landed right at the hole but not in. This is an old apartment place and there is glass everywhere now, but I didn’t get scraped up thank goodness. My disabled arm though had dust and whatnot on it, and it still hurts some ten minutes later. :( If I had known there was a recall, I missed it. :(

The product, in the report: Outdoor patio furniture 2 swivel chairs with ottomans
We purchased the Hampton Bay Falls River 6pc patio set, 3pc bar set, and 1 set of 2 swivel chairs with ottomans and 1 set of 2 lounge chairs in May 2014. We only put the cushions out when we are having company due to the fire hazard with the cushions. The first time we used the set two of the cushions (1 on chair and 1 on ottoman) got these large burns from being outside in the sun. We now have a few more burns over the last summer. In all occasions, it was not an overly hot day and no reason for these cushions to burn - especially after we spent almost $2000 for the new patio furniture. We went to Home Depot and there was nothing the person would do.
So, now that I find this site about recall on my chairs for structure, I wanted to find out what about these dangerous cushions that burn in regular sunny days. Has this been corrected? I have found others who have had similar issues, but what can be done to correct this? I spent quite a bit a money on a set that I can never put out cushions when using the pool (unless we have a organized party and know people will be sitting in these chairs) for fear of fire.
Also, the rust on these chairs and tables are horrible. What can be done about that? I have had less issues with cheap sets that cost $150 for dining set. Please advise.
Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: This product was bought for us as a gift from a friend it is the river swivel chairs with the table and we have the outdoor dining table with 6 chairs with green cushions
My husband was sitting in one of the chairs we were out on the back porch having coffee and he went to sit back in the chair and it completely broke off the hinges falling too the ground no injuries occurred. We had to end up getting it fixed on our own but now we see there is a recall so we wanted to report it just in case someone else he got hurt. We seen on the news that it was recalled and that you guys are offering repair kits and we have 6 of those chairs so not sure how that works but we would need 6 repair kits I’m assuming thank you

The product, in the report: Home Depot Hampton Bay Fall River 7-Piece Patio Dining Set (Part # 203624506)
On March 23, 2015, we purchased the Hampton Bay Fall River 7-piece Patio Dining Set (Part# 203624506) from Home Depot. It was delivered sometime in mid-April 2015. We assembled the set and have been using it ever since. The set has been stored outside since assembly.
On August 15, 2015, a person was sitting in one of the swivel chairs when it collapsed due to a failure at each of the three welds. The person fell backwards and was pinned between a wall, the deck and the table. At this time it appears that the only injuries are a bump on the head, strained neck and shoulder muscles.
