The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: Lowe’s Lakeview/Safford Swivel Chair Item #151737,102851

I am an owner of 4 Lowe’s Lakeview/Safford Swivel Chairs which I purchased in 2015. They have hardly been used. Earlier this summer we were setting on our patio and one of the chairs broke at the welding joints on the base causing me to fall out of the chair to the ground. We looked at all the chairs and noticed another one which was about to break. After googling for the warranty policy we noticed these are involved in a recall. We’ve contacted the company via their recall phone line several times and always get a messaging machine. They have yet to return any of our messages. How do I get new chairs or new bases so I can use these again? I paid $950 for the patio set and am not very happy that I can’t use it and that despite a federal recall, the company will not return my messages.

The product, in the report: Safford/ Lakeview Bar Chairs sold as a set of 4 from Lowes.

My neighbor came over and sat down as normal as always and the chair just gave out from under her and she fell straight down and back and she crumbled up like a pretzel! She is in her 50’s and definitely felt the aftermath of falling a drop backwards like that for days and days!! I just saw about this recall the other day and looked to see if mine were the same chair sets... I had thrown the bottom piece with the legs away but did happen to save the top part and where you can clearly see where the weld part just came undone and crumbled like! It was very traumatic because my 4yr old saw her fall from where she was playing in the yard and came running to check on her because it was such a hard direct fall backwards and down!

The product, in the report: This chair is part of a patio set with table and 2 swivel chairs and two fixed chairs. All pieces are of metal construction. Only product marking is “Garden Treasures” and “Classic”. A phone #of 1-800-444-6742 is also there, but couldn’t get through at this phone #.

The product is a swivel steel patio chair named Garden Treasures (Classic model). While sitting on it, it suddenly collapsed. The 4 struts that connected the circular based to the center fixture on the chair fractured, resulting in a fall to the surface of the patio. I weigh only 185 lbs. and the chair was simply in the normal sitting postion.
