The product, in the report: Armless dining chair

In 2012 I purchased a dining room set from The Dump in Langhorne, PA, consisting of one drop-leaf table and six chairs.

Since the purchase I have had two of the chairs collapse while occupied. The first incident occurred while I was sitting on the chair eating dinner. The second occurred as my wife shifted forward preparing to rise from the chair.

In my incident I fell to the floor. I sustained a contusion on my buttock but I did not require nor did I seek medical attention. My wife was lucky enough to be able to grab the table and prevent a fall.

In the first instance the chair was replaced under warranty as it occurred less than one year after purchase. I am now told that the second chair will not be replaced as the warranty has expired.

Inspection of these chairs revealed that the failure point was near where the frame which supports the seat was notched out to accept a diagonal brace. It appears that this significantly weakened the frame at that point. I can supply photos if needed.

I am informed by [REDACTED] of The Dump that they have checked with the manufacturer (which was unnamed) and they will not replace this due to the expiration of the warranty. They further stated that the model has been discontinued.
