The product, in the report: Arie Swivel Chair , an upholstered styrofoam shell chair with a customized front and back cover with a metal base. Exact the same as the recall notice https://docs.eq3.com/recalls/arie-chair-product-recall-en.pdf 37124-71-132A3C Same as

I am writing to bring a matter of critical safety concern to your attention, specifically related to the EQ3 Arie Chair, which has recently been subject to a recall notice by the Canadian Health Department (https://docs.eq3.com/recalls/arie-chair-product-recall-en.pdf).

I am a consumer residing in the United States, and my concern arises from a personal experience with the EQ3 Arie Chair, which mirrors the safety issues outlined in the Canadian recall notice.

Since our purchase of the chair in 2018, it remained unused in the guest bedroom until May 2023 when my mother, weighing only 137lb, used it for approximately 2 hours each night before bedtime. After just 5 months of light usage, the weld of the metal mounting failed, causing the chair stem to break. This resulted in a fall that, fortunately, did not cause severe life-threatening harm; however, it did twist my mother’s lower back, leading to persistent pain for several months. Notably, the breakage was alarmingly identical to the hazard outlined in the recall notice.

Despite being manufactured just one month after the specified recall dates, the chair exhibited an alarming and identical failure in the recall notice. This defect led to a fall, resulting in potential injury, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this matter promptly.

Given the potential risks associated with the observed safety issue and the fact that my experience aligns with the hazards outlined in the Canadian recall notice, I kindly request the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s intervention in recalling the EQ3 Arie Chair in the United States. This recall extension would encompass products manufactured shortly beyond the initially specified dates, as is the case with my chair.

I believe that extending the recall period in the United States will not only protect American consumers but also prompt the manufacturer, EQ3, to address the concerns promptly and comprehensively. My ultimate goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of consumers in the United States who may be at risk due to this product.

I understand the crucial role that the Consumer Product Safety Commission plays in safeguarding public health, and I appreciate your attention to this matter. Your intervention is vital in preventing potential accidents and injuries associated with the EQ3 Arie Chair.

Thank you for your prompt consideration, and I look forward to a swift and positive resolution.
