No one hurt Made Aug 29, 2018, sent to the company Sep 19, 2018, published by CPSC Oct 3, 2018
The product, in the report: Desk Chair...it was black. I don’t know what the name was, but under the chair stuck a tag with the address on:1--- Zhejiang Qianglong Seating Co. Ltd., The South Of Huangshu, Dipi Town, Anji County, Zhejiang Province, China 313300 2--- Reg # PA-25917(CN)
Sir/Mam:
Last Friday I sat on my desk chair, I leaned-back using my back.......and something “snapped”. Now, I knew these “Chinese-made chairs” are made “to see how fast they come off the assembly-line”, but Holy Crap !!!!!! Now, I know you want us to continue buying those chairs, but not “Those Chairs” !!! I have had the chair since the start of 2017 (didn’t realize I’d have to hang onto the receipt, to tell someone the date I messed-up it). I purchased the chair at Wal-Malt in Dilworth, MN.....brand new. Over time (which I don’t understand because it was in perfect “health”), the chair “snapped” and I was lucky that I paid attention to it all. At first, I “felt” like I was having a grand-mal seizure (I have epilepsy since 1973), but was still able to “grab” the wall to my right---and then fell to the right of my chair, onto the floor. Not a thing happened to me, physically !!! Nothing. Now, the two bolts were snapped right from the “plastic” that the two bolts originally were screwed-onto. IF the same thing happened, but not just on one side, but to BOTH sides at the same time, a person would fall backwards.......a consumer (me) would fall back. The two arm-rests act as braces, and the two, hold up the back-rest and the seat. For a while, and then it’s a guessing game.......who knows. Four (cuatro, vier, fire, quatre, etc.) screws, that’s all! Four screws on each arm-rest hold ya up until it breaks. You can guess it might break when you first buy it, or maybe after a month or two when ya tighten the 4x2=8....8 screws......eight screws to tighten every 3-4 months. I’m not buying that [REDACTED] again. Now in the last week, I’ve been scared to sit onto any chair.....ANY CHAIR. Those “Chinese made chairs”, sure, advertise then on eBay or Amazon or Wal-Mart or Target or Menards or Office Depot, or.....! It was about 1:00 a.m., and after that crap, I saw how to purchase those same arm-rests as “spare-parts”. You know how much it would cost to buy a second chair (that’s exactly how they work.....sell one, hope it breaks after the warranty, then sell another). It will break within a few years. You know how much it costs to buy “spare parts”.......I bought the chair last year, (went into the hospital for four months), was home-bound for a couple of months this year, ..... of the 20 or so months I’ve had the chair, I was out 6-7 months (laying in the hospital, Eventide, etc.). It cost me $75 for that chair.......OK, spare parts, for 2 of the arm-rests it would cost me $59. I’m 200 pounds, sometimes less if I’m in the hospital. Yesterday, I couldn’t find any serial number, model number, or any #’s for that matter, until I looked under the seat of the chair, and here’s what it says on a sheet of paper: Reg # PA-25917(CN) I can’t imagine what it costs for a desk-chair today.......compared to the desk-chair 50 years ago.
Best Wishes;
