The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Avondale Side Chair, brown, no armrests. This is sold at Macy’s, both in store and online. The MSRP (as of 04/19/17) is $179.00 for the chair only, with a current sale to $129.00. It is also available as part of several sets. The Macy’s “Web ID” of the chair alone is 1661251, and it appears they are sold only at Macy’s.
On the same day as delivery of a chair purchased Macy’s as part of a larger set (the Macy’s receipt describes it as: “Side Chair, Sidechair, Avondale” sold for $106.28), one of my family members sat on the chair and one of the legs broke in half and the chair and family member fell over. This was possibly the first time anyone had sat in that chair, and if not the first time then nearly so.
I immediately contacted Macy’s who arranged a replacement chair to be delivered and the old chair taken away one week later. I don’t know what, if any, investigation Macy’s did on the chair. The other chairs have been fine so far, but as I saw a recall notice for a different chair, I wanted to report this recent incident in case there could be a bigger issue that CPSC may need to investigate as opposed to a single instance of this happening.
