No one hurt Made Feb 6, 2026, sent to the company Feb 11, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 26, 2026
The product, in the report: Product Name: Westlinport 6-Piece Dining Room Set Manufacturer/Brand: Ashley Furniture Color/Finish: Two-tone finish (Light butcher block Oak top with an Antiqued White base). Components: * Table: Rectangular dining table with a self-storing butterfly leaf. Dimensions are 40” W x 60” L (extends to 78” L) x 30” H. Chairs: Matching dining chairs with an antiqued white finish and contoured seats. Bench: Matching dining bench in the same two-tone finish. Purpose and Purchase Details: This is a standard household dining set intended for daily use. The set was purchased in November 2025 for a total of $1,796.77 (including delivery and insurance) through [REDACTED] Retail Services. The specific issue is with the structural integrity of the chairs provided in this set, which feature a lightweight, unstable design and pre-existing fractures in the wooden frames.
I am reporting a severe structural safety hazard involving an Ashley Westlinport dining chair. My 5-year-old son was sitting on the chair with his knees up when he slipped. As his body moved toward the back of the seat, a large, jagged structural fracture in the wooden frame caught his clothing. The sharp, splintered wood was so hazardous that it immediately tore a hole in the seat of his pants. This incident confirms that the furniture is structurally unsound and poses an immediate risk of serious laceration or puncture wounds, especially to children. The location of the sharp, broken wood is in a direct contact zone for any user. Despite providing photographic evidence of the fractured wood and the damaged clothing, Ashley Furniture has refused a refund, citing a ‘no refund’ policy. I am rejecting this merchandise as non-conforming and unsafe. A store policy cannot override federal safety standards for defective products that cause property damage and pose a physical risk to minors. The structural integrity of this chair model is severely compromised. Beyond the sharp splintering that has already damaged property, the frame is so unstable that it poses a high risk of total collapse for any adult user. Leaning back results in visible stress to the fractured wood, creating a catastrophic fall hazard. I am concerned that this model will cause a serious back or head injury if not removed from the market. The hazard was significantly magnified by the furniture’s dangerously lightweight construction. Because the chair lacks the necessary weight to remain stable, it slid backward the moment my son moved. This sliding action caused the pre-existing, hidden fracturewhich was already severed in halfto pivot and open, exposing razor-sharp internal edges that immediately caught and ripped his clothing. The combination of structural failure and a lack of floor stability makes this product a catastrophic injury risk for any household.

No one hurt Made Jun 19, 2023, sent to the company Jun 21, 2023, published by CPSC Jul 6, 2023
The product, in the report: Realyn dining table and chairs. Table can be round or oval. Table top is wood tone and legs are distressed white. Chairs are same coloring with padded seats
We purchased the realyn dining table and chairs from the Ashley Home Furnishings store in Riverhead NY and had it delivered on 8/24/22. Since taking delivery of the set 4 of the 6 chairs have broken. All in the same place and each time the person in the chair has fallen out of the chair as a result. Luckily nobody was seriously injured but very easily could be. The issue is that the from leg is manufactured in 2 pieces and held together with very flimsy mail/staples. The first 2 chairs broke in 11/22 and the second 2 broke 6/23

I have two chairs break and I have been injured twice. First time 2/9/2023- I was sitting at the table and went to get up and the chair broke and I fell to the floor and severely sprain my ligament in my right elbow and bruised the left side and had a few scratches too. Now I’m wearing hinged brace on my elbow and soon to start therapy too. And the second chair broke on 3/2/2023 at about 11pm. Once again I goes to sit down and as soon as I say down I went down to the floor and my left side is cut again.

The product, in the report: Six upholstered arm chairs
(02/04/2021) The consumer stated that all of the chairs have a horrendous toxic chemical smell that has caused her to have burning in her nose and throat. The chairs were wrapped in plastic initially, but after being exposed to the air, the consumer had to remove the products to the garage.
The consumer stated that three of the chairs were damaged when they were delivered. Instead of replacing just the three that were damaged, the firm replaced all of the chairs. The new chairs also have the same toxic smell.
The consumer contacted the corporate office of the firm. She did not receive a response.

No one hurt Made Mar 9, 2018, sent to the company Apr 20, 2018, published by CPSC May 4, 2018
The product, in the report: Chairs
In mid 2015 I bought 4 dining chairs from Butler Furniture Co in Mountain Home Arkansas and began to use them in my home. In early 2016 I noticed the chair that my wife was sitting in was at an unusual angle. When I picked it up the left rear leg was dangling loose and about to come off the chair.
Had it come off it would likely have thrown my wife backwards through a glass door. She is on a blood thinner and would probably have bled to death before medical help could arrive or I could have taken her to the nearest ER 15 miles away. When I turned the chair over I found a tiny 2 line warning in English that indicated that the screws should be tightened by the user when they loosen. The notice is buried amidst several larger labels, one of which is written entirely in Chinese, and a stamp indicates that it is “MADE IN CHINA”. How many buyers look under a chair before they purchased it? None to my knowledge and the label is hidden under the seat.
I tightened all 32 screws under the chair (all were quite loose) and resumed use of the chairs, but in mid 2016 I found all 32 Screws again loose ( 1 leg dangerously loose). The chairs are product of Ashley Furniture Co, One Asheley Way, Arcadia WI, 54612. The label bears D540-402 which is presumed to be a model number. That product should be banned from sale as highly dangerous and no longer allowed into the USA.
