The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Emergency room

Made Apr 20, 2013, sent to the company Apr 29, 2013, published by CPSC May 13, 2013

The product, in the report: Arts & Crafts 5 piece Dinette promo (dark) Item number: 3648cc-up-ew909 sku: 1547364

We purchased a 5 piece dinette set from American Signature Furniture in Sunrise, Florida. From the outset we determined that some of the chairs were very weak. American Signature replaced these chairs with a new set that contained another chair that was obviously cracked. After many, many phone calls and continuous conversations with their customer service representatives, they agreed to replace all of the chairs again. While waiting for the chairs to be replaced, I sat in one of the chairs that was not cracked or appeared to be weak. While sitting in this chair working on my laptop at the dining room table, the chair collapsed beneath me. As a result, I was forced to go to the hospital and was determined to have an injury resulting from this fall.

These chairs are, obviously, very unsafe and could pose a serious risk to an elderly person.

I have complete documentation and relevant photos for this complaint and would be more than happy to provide them to you at your request.

Thank you for your time in this matter.
