The product, in the report: Scoop Chair for children
Via my daughter’s Amazon account, I purchased a “scoop seat” rocking chair for a child. The description page is: https://www.amazon.com/American-Plastic-Toys-Rocker-Childrens/dp/B079ZBJX8B/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Within ten minutes of first use my granddaughter was crying and icing her hand because the design of the product is such that normal play will result in crushing damage to small fingers, and possibly worse. Below is the “review” I tried to post to the Amazon reviews for that product: - - - - - - - - Look at the side of the chair in the “blow up” view. The rolled edge comes close to the floor at the front. Plenty of room for little fingers to grip there and not touch the floor…unless another child, or playful adult, rocks the chair to the side, which converts the chair-edge to a guillotine-like finger-crusher. And when used on carpet, the space between little fingers and danger is reduced.
And what’s not shown is that the “bump” the bottom of the chair rocks on isn’t a plate. On each side the chair rests on two thin “fins” about an inch apart, like parallel knives running front to back. A child, being pushed backward in the chair, who reaches behind the chair to try to brace themselves and prevent tipping, will encounter those fins in a very painful, and dangerous, way. - - - - - - - It’as worth noting that for unknown reasons, Amazon has suppressed the ability to post a negative review of the product. And while their statistics show that the product has 23% one star reviews, those reviews are suppressed and cannot be viewed, suggesting that Amazon is aware of the problem, or that a third party has, somehow interfered.
