The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: allen + roth brand Safford model and Garden Treasures brand Lakeview model bar chairs sold in sets of four. The chairs have a brown, aluminum frame and a beige sling fabric cover. The 4-foot-tall chairs swivel 360 degrees and have arm rests on each side of the chair.

The Replacement Bar Chair bases (Recall #17-078) will not stay attached to the bar chair frames. These new bases were sent to me during the year 2017. I replaced the existing bases with the replacement bases. Now the replacement bases will NOT stay attached to the bar chair. Every time I pick up the chair to move it, the base falls off. This is a very hazardous situation and needs to be addressed immediately. I never had this problem with the original bar chair bases.

The product, in the report: outdoor swivel dinning chairs Lowe’s Item # 402197

The submitter purchased two sets of the swivel chairs, one set came with 2 chairs. The submitter indicated that these chairs look identical to the chairs affected by recall # 17-076.

The submitter states that in early 2013 one of the swivel chairs broke near the base, where the legs attach to the center. The submitter indicated that someone was sitting in the chair when the base broke. No injury reported. The submitter discarded the chair.

In December of 2013 another swivel chair broke near the base, where the legs attach to the center. The submitter indicated that a person renting the home was sitting in the chair when the base broke. The renter had gone through back surgery prior to the incident and he had back surgery a few months after the incident. The submitter is not sure if the renter required back surgery from an injury due to the incident.

The submitter then contacted Lowe’s and informed them of both incidents. The submitter states that Lowe’s replaced both chairs, from the first incident in early 2013 and the second incident in December 2013.

In March of 2016 another swivel chair broke near the base, where the legs attach to the center. The submitter contacted Lowe’s and informed them of the incident. The submitter states that Lowe’s replaced all 4 swivel chairs and gave him 2 extra chairs. The submitter indicated that these replacement chairs have 4 legs.

The submitter heard on the news about recall # 17-076 and prompted him to report the chairs he had.
