Your Zone Clip Lamp with flexible gooseneck purchased from Walmart in December 2012- This lamp has a switch that is suppose to be turned from left to right to turn on and off but it is very sensitive and if you just tap the end of the switch the lamp will turn on. We have purchased 3 of these lamps (one pink, one purple and one blue). Over the past weekend, one of the lamps (the blue one) fell off the side of the bed that it was clipped to and when it fell on the bed, the lamp turned on. We were not at home at the time. When we came home, we discovered that the lamp has become so hot that it completely melted the plastic shade on the lamp, burned my son’s comforter, sheets, his mattress pad, and a hole in his mattress. Our whole house smells of burnt plastic. We are very lucky that the whole house did not burn down. If the wires had not burned into causing the lamp to short out, we would have probably come home to ashes. We took the other 2 lamps out of the girls’ rooms (one pink and one purple) and tested how sensitive they were to turn on and off and sure enough, if you just tap the end of the switch with your finger, the lamp turns on.
