The product, in the report: decorative lighting

The consumer was using the light for a while (length of time unknown). He attempted to pull the ballast from the wall outlet, but the metal prongs stayed in the outlet. The consumer turned the breaker off in the home and removed the metal prongs from the wall outlet. There was no injury, but this presented an extremely dangerous situation.

He called the firm’s Recall ([REDACTED]) number and spoke with a rep. (name unavailable) about this incident, but they were not willing to do anything for him, based on the age of the product. Other than the name (True Color), he could not find any model or serial information on the lamp. In light of the safety issue, the consumer believes that the firm should consider providing some assistance with replacing it. OTTLite TrueColor model OLF018TC Serial# 18JAS2498 ST793909 2003

The color of the cord was sand grey and the lamp could be raised or lowered. It used an 18 watt fluorescent bulb.

The consumer called the firm a few years ago and purchased a new bulb directly from them.
