The product, in the report: Floor Lamp
I was almost electrocuted while installing a floor lamp from Cost Plus World Market. The light bulb base had broke (or came broken). The jagged edge of the this base was cutting into the power cable for this lamp, energizing the metal casing of the lamp. Due to the design of the lamp, this seems like it would be a common occurrence. There is also no grounding conductor run with the current carrying conductors within the power cable. Fortunately, I noticed the jagged edge cutting into the power cable before plugging in the first time. The only reason I noticed this was due to wobbly nature of the lamp shade. This thin piece of metal that makes the base of the light bulb, also is the structural support for the lamp shade.
