The product, in the report: From Target: The Torchiere Floor Lamp from their Room Essentials Line, TCIN: 10057457, DPCI: 074-02-0410 In addition, the second style we have is from the same line but it has a second light attached to it; I attached a picture of a similar one We purchased many of these floor lamps!! Mostly the 1 light version; just 1 of the 2 light bulbs version!
We recently purchased several floor lamps from Target. They cost $7.99 each. A few days ago one started making a sizzling noise and then massive amounts of smoke came out!! It even caused all the lights in our home to go off for a moment!! We quickly unplugged it. There were burn marks on the light bulb/at the top!! I called Target’s Customer Service Number about this and brought the lamp back to the store. Last night, the same type of lamp purchased around the same time began making sizzling noises in my son’s room! It’s not the 1st time! I unplugged it and will now need to replace it. We also have a third similar lamp that keeps flickering and sometimes needs a shake for it to work! Now I’m feeling like I need to get rid of this lamp too because it could start on fire soon!! These lamps are soooo dangerous and such a fire hazard!! When the 1st lamp incident happened, my children said the smell of smoke was stuck in our house for the rest of the day even though we opened up the windows! (I can’t smell). We easily could have burned down our townhouse!! Please look into this and make Target stop selling them!! I’m also concerned that maybe this company is making these lights for other stores under different names. This is the Target Torchiere Floor Lamp from their Room Essentials Line., TCIN: 10057457, DCPI: 074-02-0410. It comes in a single light bulb version and also one with two lights attached to it (we have both styles but mostly the single light bulb version). Thank you for looking into this!

No one hurt Made Sep 13, 2013, sent to the company Sep 23, 2013, published by CPSC Oct 23, 2013
The product, in the report: Floor lamp, Brushed Silver Finish, Metal Shades, on/off Rotary Switch. Three adjustable lamp shades/lights. 68” tall.
Burn. Floor lamp has three individual metal shades. With proper use, and very quickly, the metal shades became extremely and unreasonably hot. Touching the shades would cause a significant burn. The on/off switches are at the top of each shade and it is therefore necessary to put ones hand onto the shade. This risks touching the main area of the shade that has heated up from the light bulb. The metal lamp shades become dangerously hot. Also, they are low enough for a child to reach.

The product, in the report: It was a Room Essentials Torchiere Lamp in Silver. I bought it at Target in August/September 2009. It is not currently on their website. It is similar to the compact florescent one that is there now. This one said to not use more than 120W bulb. I was using a 40W. The sticker I peeled off the bottom says - Howin Model No.: HW-F0782(074020410) It also says Intertek Listed
I purchased a floor lamp in 2009 from Target. I have always used it in my children’s room. Today I went to turn it off and it would not turn off. The twist knob felt hot. I unplugged the lamp and tilted it down to see what was happening. It was on fire. I could see a blue flame inside the lamp head underneath where the bulb is screwed in. Thankfully this happened when I was in the room and not my daughter.
