The product, in the report: Adesso Pisces Torchiere Lamp http://www.adessolightinglights.com/product/adesso-pisces-floor-lamps-7501-01.html Adesso Piedmont Torchiere Lamp http://www.adessolightinglights.com/product/adesso-piedmont-floor-lamps-7202-01.html?page=1
I purchased three Adesso Pisces Torchiere floor lamps and two Adesso Piedmont Torchiere floor lamps approximately two weeks ago. The lamps each hold two 150-watt light bulbs, and the Piedmont lamp also has a third bulb about halfway down the shaft of the lamp which serves as a reading light (a 60-watt bulb). My complaint deals only with the top two 15-watt bulbs and the plastic lamp shades surrounding those two bulbs. When properly assembled with bulbs installed and both bulbs turned on, the light bulbs are placed in too close proximity to the plastic lamp shade and thus one bulb inevitably burns through the lamp shade causing smoking and smoldering. Although the Pisces and Piedmont lamps have different shaped shades, both styles of shades have been burned through (2 of the Pisces and 1 of the Piedmont) by one bulb. I noticed the first incident when I noticed a large yellow-ringed hole in one lamp shade; I noticed the other two incidents because I was standing closer to the lamp shades, and I smelled the smoking. I have since removed the lamp shades from all five lamps, but I have preserved them. I have pictures of the burned shades for your reference and have attached them to this report. I am also willing to turn over all five lamps to you for testing as necessary. The manufacturer has requested that I turn over the lamps to them, but I am unwilling to do so, as I do not believe that the manufacturer is acting in good faith. I am not looking for any compensation; I am just seriously concerned about this fire hazard. I find it very hard to believe that the manufacturer was unaware through product testing of a result which I, as a consumer, was able to discover in under two weeks with only five samples.
