  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Oct 30, 2011, sent to the company Nov 7, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 22, 2011

The product, in the report: Fluorescent torchiere

I received a severe shock when I touched the pole of fluorescent torchiere light while also touching a grounded component on my laptop keyboard. I isolated problem to the light using a voltmeter. There is a 350V AC potential between the lamp pole and ground, likely from the fluorescent bulb power unit (built into torchiere and into which circular bulb is mounted). There has been no damage or modification to lamp since I purchased it. The shock was very painful - through dry hands across body. It caused sharp muscle contraction and lingering pain. Fortunately muscle contraction broke contact with lamp.
